Weather Report From Cluster Station 11.3.70 (Week of 18, August, 3115) Description: Cloudy Temperature: Moderate High: 79°F (26°C) Low: 62°F (16°C) Relative: Warmer than normal Wind Force: Light Wind Speed: 10 mph (16 kph) Agro Mini-Report: Mild conditions ideal for crop tending. Harvest time in three to four standard weeks.  Reports of anomalies in giant turnip and root fields have been increasing. 

 Stieg Miner pilots a HMC-14 Hermit Crab, but which model to use for the job?  They’re two different .stl’s, produced by two different, high-quality Etsy manufacturers.  I love them both, but I am stumped on which one to feature in our story.  Maybe both? Perhaps one could represent an HMC-13, and the other an HMC-14? 

  Meet Some Of Our Cast Stieg Miner. If this tale has a hero, Stieg is it. A MechWarrior fleeing from the defeat and dissolution while in service to the Hanseatic League. During the battle for Holdout in 3112, his unit was crushed at the hands of the Escorpion Imperio defense forces. Miner’s 55 ton SHD-2Hb Shadow Hawk was shot out from under him and he ejected. Disgraced and dispossessed, he fled the planet disguised as a civilian refugee.  After two hard years of running and mercenary work as a ground pounder, he washed up on Vedma’s World. He arrived in late 3114, and found himself in the little frontier town of Cluster. His knack for mechanical repair led him to the service of the town’s only Tech, Ayla Wright. She had possession of the town’s only ‘Mech, a beat-up HMC-14 Hermit Crab. It was in such disrepair that it was being used as just a power plant for the workshop and nearby buildings. CDF consists of three units of mechanized light infantry and several types of transport / IFVs. It has a single BattleMech, an HMC-14 Hermit Crab.  Entertainment: Dinner Theater (Bab’s Drama Emporium). Holovid House (The Imaginarium). 

BattleTech Alpha Strike Blog Setup This blog will allow me to do some serialized, tabletop storytelling in the expansive Battletech Universe. Set in the Il Clan era around 3115, Vedma’s World is a gloomy orb five jumps spinward of the old Illyrian Palatinate, and founded by refugees from the Marian Hegemony’s conquest of that tiny realm in 3063.  Origins The impetus for this was threefold.  1. I have always loved the Periphery setting in BattleTech, and this love was born from reading William H. Keith, Jr.’s classic novel Decision At Thunder Rift.  2. BattleTech Alpha Strike Aces debuted during the recent Mercenaries Kickstarter. This lets players play compelling solo and co-op games with the fast and fun AS system. It’s also really cool that we now have Mechwarrior Destiny, a true rules light BT RPG that also has skirmish integrations.
